Rear Shock-Absorber Strut Tower Removal - Ar64.20-P-1160-01S

Model 223.0/1/9 

IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle for model 223.1 and must be performed in the same way on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Expose self-piercing rivets on shock-absorber strut tower (1) and drill out with ø 6 mm (area A).

  2. Expose self-piercing rivets on shock-absorber strut tower (1) and drill out with ø 6 mm (areas B).

  3. Expose self-piercing rivets on shock-absorber strut tower (1) and drill out with ø 6 mm (areas C).
  4. Heat damper strut dome (1) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  6. Heat damper strut dome (1) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  7. Remove damper strut dome (1).
  8. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  10. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
