IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle for model 223.1 and must be performed in the same way on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

The graphics show the vehicle from the mechanic's perspective. At the same time, this perspective also specifies the direction in which the rivets must be placed.

  1. Install wheel well (1), fit with straightening tool and fix in place.
  2. Drill rivet holes on wheel well (1) with a Ø 6.7 mm bit (areas A, B, C, D).

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes from outside through existing holes in body (area A).

    Drill rivet holes from outside (areas B, D).

  3. Countersink rivet hole from outside (area D).

  4. Drill rivet holes on wheel well (1) with a Ø 6.7 mm bit (areas E, I).

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes through existing holes in body (area I).

  5. Drill rivet hole on wheel well (1) with a Ø 6.7 mm bit through connecting carrier located above (area F).
  6. Drill or cut previously drilled hole on connecting carrier with a Ø 10 mm bit.

    IMPORTANT To create sufficient space for the rivet head.

  7. Drill rivet holes on wheel well (1) with a Ø 6.7 mm bit (areas H, J).

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes through existing holes in body (area J).

  8. Remove wheel well (1).
  9. Deburr rivet holes on wheel well (1) and body on both sides.
  10. Remove drilling chips.

  11. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  12. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Apply 2-component adhesive on inside (areas G).

    Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  13. Install wheel well (1) with straightening tool and fix in place.
  14. Rivet wheel well (1) with Ø 6.5x12.5 rivets (areas Y2 ).

  15. Rivet wheel well (1) with Ø 6.5x12.5 rivets (areas Y2 ).
  16. Rivet wheel well (1) with Ø 6.5x14.5 rivets (areas Y3 ).
  17. Rivet wheel well (1) with a Ø 6.4x15.5 countersunk-head rivet (area Z2 ).
