The following steps are shown on model 223.1 on the left side of the vehicle and must be similarly performed on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.
The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
The graphics show the vehicle from the mechanic's perspective. At the same time, this perspective also specifies the direction in which the rivets must be placed.
- Install, align and fix longitudinal member front section (1) in place using straightening tool.
- Install replacement part duplicators (2), fit and fix in place.
- Drill rivet holes in longitudinal member front section (1) and in longitudinal member with Ø 6.7 mm through the existing holes in the replacement part duplicators (2) (areas A, B, C).
- Countersink rivet holes in the replacement part duplicators (2) (areas B, C).
- Remove replacement part duplicators (2) and longitudinal member front section (1).
- Deburr rivet holes in longitudinal member front section (1), in the longitudinal member and in the replacement part duplicators (2) on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Install longitudinal member front section (1) and fix in place with straightening tool.
- Apply 2-component adhesive to longitudinal member front section (1) and longitudinal member in the cross-hatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.
- Install the replacement part duplicators (2).
- Rivet longitudinal member front section (1) and duplicators (2) with Ø 6.4x15.7 rivets (areas Y4 ).
- Rivet longitudinal member front section (1) and duplicator (2) with Ø 6.4x20 rivets (area Y9 ).
- Rivet longitudinal member front section (1) and duplicators (2) with Ø 6.3x19.5 countersunk-head rivets (areas Z4 ).
