Front Longitudinal Member Partial Separation - Ar62.20-P-1255-01S

Model 223.0/1/9 

IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle for model 223.1 and must be performed in the same way on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Expose spot welds at rear longitudinal member (2) and cut off (area A).

  2. Expose spot welds at rear longitudinal member (2) and cut off (area B).
  3. Expose spot welds at rear longitudinal member (2) and drill through with a Ø 6.5 mm bit (area C).

  4. Heat rear longitudinal member (2) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  6. Remove rear longitudinal member (2).
  7. Expose spot welds at front longitudinal member (1) and cut off (area D).
  8. Expose spot welds at front longitudinal member (1) and drill through with a Ø 6.5 mm bit (area E).
  9. Expose self-piercing rivets at front longitudinal member (1) and drill off with a Ø 6 mm bit (area F).

  10. Expose spot welds at front longitudinal member (1) and cut off (area G).
  11. Expose spot welds at front longitudinal member (1) and drill through with a Ø 6.5 mm bit (area H).
  12. Expose self-piercing rivet at front longitudinal member (1) and drill off with a Ø 6 mm bit (area I).

  13. Heat front longitudinal member (1) in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  15. Remove front longitudinal member (1).

  16. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Grind mating surfaces on inside down to bare metal (areas J).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  17. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  18. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Grind mating surface on inside down to bare metal (area K).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  19. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
