The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle for model 223.1 and must be performed in the same way on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

1. Grind mating surfaces at front longitudinal member (1) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

   Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

2. Remove grinding dust.

3. Grind mating surfaces at front longitudinal member (1) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

   Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

4. Remove grinding dust.
5. Grind mating surfaces on rear longitudinal member (2) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

   Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

6. Remove grinding dust.
