4	Switch on low beams.	The fog light/rear fog light function must not  be active when checking and adjusting the low beam.
5	Open hood.	Diagnostic pattern is switched on in the main headlamps.
	Check and, if necessary, adjust (how to check and adjust the low beam is described using the left low beam (22) in the front left lamp unit (E1), use the same procedure for the right.)
6	Check and, if necessary, adjust height adjustment of left low beam (22).

		When the diagnostic light pattern is switched on and the height adjustment is correct, the horizontal light/dark boundary at the left of the center mark (1a) of the left low beam (22) must at the same time be congruent with the reference line for height adjustment (2) in the headlamp adjuster (01) respectively to the left of the center mark (3). The colored area of the horizontal light/dark boundary at the left of the center mark (1) of the left low beam (22) must be above the reference line for height adjustment (2). If height adjustment of left low beam (22) is correct with diagnostic light pattern switched on: ↓ no further check is necessary; continue with operation step 7. If height adjustment of left low beam (22) is incorrect with diagnostic light pattern switched on: ↓ Correct height adjustment of left low beam (22) by turning height adjustment setting screw (H). Before turning the setting screw for height adjustment (H), the test conditions for "Vehicle in ready-to-drive condition" must be fulfilled. If the horizontal light/dark boundary at the left of the center mark (1a) cannot be set parallel to the reference line for height adjustment (2), ↓ check light functions and installation position of headlamp. After obtaining special order. If the horizontal light/dark boundary at the right of the central mark (1b) is not parallel to the reference line for height adjustment (2), ↓ check light functions of headlamp. After obtaining special order.
7	Check lateral adjustment of left low beam (22) and adjust if necessary.

		When the diagnostic light pattern is switched on and the lateral adjustment is correct, the vertical light/dark boundary (5) of the left low beam (22) must run upward at a 90° angle relative to the reference line for height adjustment (2) in the headlamp adjuster (01) starting at the center mark (3). The colored area of the vertical light/dark boundary (5) of the left low beam (22) must be to the left of the center mark (3). If lateral adjustment of left low beam (22) is correct: ↓ no further check necessary, continue with operation step 8. If lateral adjustment of left low beam (22) is incorrect with diagnostic light pattern switched on: ↓ Correct lateral adjustment of left low beam (22) by turning lateral adjustment setting screw (S). Before turning the setting screw for lateral adjustment (S), the test conditions for "Vehicle in ready-to-drive condition" must be fulfilled. If the vertical light/dark boundary (5) of the left low beam (22) is not at a 90° angle to the reference line for height adjustment (2) in the headlamp adjuster (01), ↓ check light functions of left front lamp unit (E1). After obtaining special order. The horizontal light/dark boundary at the right of the center mark (1b) of the left low beam (22) must be to the right of the center mark (3) parallel to the reference line for height adjustment (2) in the headlamp adjuster (01).
	Finishing activity
8	Reset switch positions to input condition.	Only if the high beam setting is not to be checked afterwards.
9	Close hood.
