	Disconnect, connect
1	Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).	All electrical consumers must be switched off. Otherwise they or the on-board electrical system battery (G1) may be damaged when disconnecting/connecting the ground line (2).
2	Open hood.
3.1	Remove trims of on-board electrical system battery (G1) in engine compartment on right.	Model 223.### 1# with engine 177, 256 with code ME10 (Hybrid vehicle (plug-in, PHEV))

4	Unfasten nut (1) and remove ground line (2) from negative pole of on-board electrical system battery (G1).

5	Check 12 V on-board electrical system for voltage between positive line of on-board electrical system battery (G1) and disconnected ground line (2) using a diode test lamp.	If the diode test lamp illuminates, the 12 V on-board electrical system is still active because of a malfunction in the electrical system. If the diode test lamp lights up, ↓ Remove ground line of auxiliary battery or of battery for secondary on-board electrical system.

6	Connect in reverse order.
