Wheel covers/brake dust covers 

Wheel covers and brake dust covers available as aftermarket accessories are designed to prevent brake lining dust from soiling light alloy wheels. These parts must not be installed for the following reasons:

• Inadequate air cooling may cause the brake discs to overheat under severe load. Vapor bubbles may form in the brake fluid and the seal bellows may be destroyed, resulting in failure of the brake system.
• A safe wheel attachment as a result of settling effects with the cover plates or brake dust disks is not guaranteed.
• The reworking of the brake calipers as recommended in the assembly instructions is not permissible.

Retrofitting of spacer rings for wheel spacer 

Spacer rings are not approved by Mercedes-Benz and may not be installed for the following reasons:

• Centering of disk wheel relative to wheel hub no longer required
• Change in steering geometry (scrub radius)
• Negative influence on steering ability and steering wheel reset
• Increased wear on wheel bearings and axle joints due to increased lever forces
• Insufficient reach of wheel bolt
• In production-series status insufficient coverage of wheel rolling surface
• Restricted use of snow chains only
