General
The boost pressure control flap actuator regulates the exhaust gas turbocharger boost pressure.
Location
The boost pressure control flap actuator is directly located on the exhaust gas turbocharger.
Structure
A DC motor, an induction-type sensor and an actuator housing are accommodated in the housing of the boost pressure control flap actuator.
Function
The boost pressure control takes place via continuous adjustment (between 0 and 109° adjustment angle) of the boost pressure control flap. In exhaust gas turbochargers with variable turbine geometry, the guide vanes are adjusted via the boost pressure regulator. The boost pressure control flap actuator as well as the boost pressure regulator are actuated via the combustion engine control unit by means of a pulse width modulated signal. The positioning travel of the actuator motor is determined via an integrated, inductive sensor.
