General
The charge air temperature sensor downstream of the throttle valve provides a voltage signal based on which the charge air temperature can be determined. The air mass can be calculated in combination with the absolute pressure in the intake manifold and the rpm signal.
Location
The charge air temperature sensor downstream of the throttle valve is located in the intake manifold behind the throttle valve actuator.
Function
The electrical resistance of the NTC precision resistor varies according to charge air temperature. Electrical resistance decreases as temperature increases. The resistance variation results in a voltage change that is used by the combustion engine control unit to calculate the charge air temperature.
The charge air temperature sensor downstream of the throttle valve contains a NTC precision resistor as an electrical component for measuring the charge air temperature.
NTC (negative temperature coefficient): The electrical resistance falls as the temperature increases (NTC thermistor).
