Multifunction inputs (MFE)
The parameterizable special module (PSM) control unit (N26/16) has a total of 25 discrete inputs. These MFEs can be configured individually. It should be noted that not all MFEs have the same capabilities.
The inputs can be divided into two categories:
| MFE_ANALOG_INPUT | 8 low-active inputs (for parameterization as a digital input) |
with switchable pull-up resistor, wake-up capable | MFE_01-08 |
| 1 high-active input (for parameterization as a digital input) |
with pull-down resistor | MFE 25 | |
| MFE_DIGITAL_INPUT | 8 low-active inputs | with pull-up resistor, wake-up capable | MFE_09-16 |
| 8 high-active inputs | with pull-down resistor, wake-up capable | MFE 17-24 |

Analog inputs
Function type MFE_ANALOG_INPUT
The analog multifunction inputs can be parameterized differently via their properties. For example, an analog input can also be used as a digital input or the input voltage can be divided and evaluated in 4 stages or areas.
Analog inputs are parameterizable as:
- Analog input (voltage value, 16 bit)
- Analog input (4 stages, fixed)
- Analog input (4 stages, adjustable)
- Digital input (low-active)
- Alarm button
- Reset button
The picture shows the parameterizable input factors of the module (wake, reset) on the left side. The output factors that can be found in the signal pool as signals are shown on the right side.
Each multifunction input is assigned a physical pin of the control unit to which the input voltage can be applied.

Properties
Electrical properties
All analog inputs can be configured as wake-up capable. In this case, the control unit is woken up by a flank change at the wake-up-capable analog input. The digital voltage levels relevant to the wake-up function cannot be configured.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wake-up | X | X | X | X | X | X | X |
| Pull-up | X | X | X | X | X | - | X |
The pull-up resistor is activated in sleep mode of the control unit if the input is configured as wake-up capable. Otherwise, the pull-up resistor is deactivated in sleep mode.

|---|---|
| Model | Edge-controlled The status of the result signals is switched on for each detected rising edge. A reset can be performed by means of an assigned result signal at the reset signal input. |
| State-controlled The assigned result signal value at the reset signal input has no effect. | |
| Evaluation | Configures the type of evaluation of the input. This results in the corresponding result signals. (see result signal) |
| Threshold value stage 1 | Configures the threshold for the "Stage 1" result signal relative to the supply voltage in %. Is evaluated if the "Evaluation" parameter is set to "threshold values, configurable". |
| Threshold value stage 2 | Configures the threshold for the "Stage 2" result signal relative to the supply voltage in %. Is evaluated if the "Evaluation" parameter is set to "threshold values, configurable". |
| Threshold value stage 3 | Configures the threshold for the "Stage 3" result signal relative to the supply voltage in %. Is evaluated if the "Evaluation" parameter is set to "threshold values, configurable". |
| Threshold value stage 4 | Configures the threshold value for the "Stage 4" result signal relative to the supply voltage in %. Is evaluated if the "Evaluation" parameter is set to "threshold values, configurable". |

|---|---|
| Wake up | The assigned result signal value activates or deactivates the ability to wake up the control unit. An input is only considered a potential network sleep blocker if this signal has been activated! |
| Reset | If the input is configured as "Edge-controlled", a positive flank change at the signal input sets all result signals to 0. |
