Location
The upper control panel (UCP) control unit (N72/1) is located in the instrument panel above the center console.
Task
The upper control panel (UCP) control unit (N72/1) forwards the signals from the integrated controls and receives the actuation for the integrated display elements.
The upper control panel (UCP) control unit (N72/1) receives the following signals from the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1) via the battery sensor LIN (LIN B15):
- Actuation of the Airbag On indicator lamp for automatic child seat recognition (N72/1e1) (with code SK5 (Automatic front passenger airbag deactivation))
- Actuation of the Airbag Off indicator lamp for automatic child seat recognition (N72/1e2) (with code SK5 (Automatic front passenger airbag deactivation))
The upper control panel (UCP) control unit (N72/1) sends the signals from the following buttons via the battery sensor LIN (LIN B15) to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1):
- Left electric sliding door button (N72/1s1) (with code T56 (Electrical actuation for left sliding door))
- Stationary heater button (N72/1s2) (with code H12 (Auxiliary water heater) or with code HZ1 (Auxiliary heater (warm air))
- ASR OFF button (N72/1s7)
- Hazard warning system button (N72/1s4)
- ECO start/stop function button (N72/1s5) (with code MJ8 (ECO stop/start function))
- Transmission mode button (N72/1s6) (with transmission 722.9)
- Right electric sliding door button (N72/1s8) (with code T55 (Electrical actuation for right sliding door))

The number of buttons and display elements depends on the special equipment installed.
