General
The control panel switch control unit (N72/15) is located in the center of the cockpit below the FRONT heating/air conditioning operating unit switch (S98/1).
The control panel switch control unit (N72/15) is available in different versions depending on the model and equipment installed.
Function
Control of various functions
All function requests via the buttons of the control panel switch control unit (N72/15) are forwarded by this via the instrument panel LIN (LIN 1) to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1).
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1) then actuates the respective component part via the vehicle architecture.
Left electric sliding door:
The left electric sliding door is actuated via the "Left electric sliding door" button (1).
Information regarding actuation of the left electric sliding door is forwarded by the control panel switch control unit (N72/15) via the instrument panel LIN (LIN 1), signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1), interior CAN (CAN B) to the left sliding door control unit (E-LSTL) (N69/7).
Engine run-on control (MWS):
By actuating the "Engine run-on control (MWS)" button (2), information on the running on of the engine is forwarded by the control panel switch control unit (N72/15) via the instrument panel LIN (LIN 1), signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1), interior CAN (CAN B), electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit (N73/8), suspension FlexRay (Flex E) to the powertrain control unit (N127).
The powertrain control unit (N127) forwards the information regarding the running on of the engine to the ME-SFI control unit (N3/34) (with engine M254) or the CDI control unit (N3/40) (with engine OM654) via the engine CAN (CAN C1).
DYNAMIC SELECT:
The "DYNAMIC SELECT" switch (3) can be used to switch between the drive programs.
The information on changing the drive program is forwarded by the control panel switch control unit (N72/15) via the instrument panel LIN (LIN 1), signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1), interior CAN (CAN B), electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit (N73/8), suspension FlexRay (Flex E) to the powertrain control unit (N127).
The powertrain control unit (N127) forwards the information regarding the selected drive program to the ME-SFI control unit (N3/34) (with engine M254) or CDI control unit (N3/40) (with engine OM654) via the engine CAN (CAN C1) and with code G43 (9G-TRONIC) to the fully integrated transmission control (VGS) electric controller unit (N15/15) via the powertrain CAN (CAN C).
In electric vehicles (with code M7E (Electric motor 150 kW/battery 60 kWh (usable)), M8E (Electric motor 85 kW/battery 60 kWh (useable)) or ME4 (Electric motor 145 kW)), the information with regard to the Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR) is forwarded by the powertrain control unit (N127) to the power electronics control unit (A79/3) via the electric drive CAN (CAN ED).
With code CA4 (AIRMATIC), the electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit (N73/8) also actuates the AIRMATIC control unit (N51/3) with regard to the selected drive program via the suspension FlexRay (Flex E).
Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR):
If the "Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR)" button (4) is pressed, the control panel switch control unit (N72/15) forwards the data via the instrument panel LIN (LIN 1), signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1), interior CAN (CAN B), electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit (N73/8), suspension FlexRay (Flex E) to the powertrain control unit (N127).
The powertrain control unit (N127) forwards the information regarding the Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR) to the ME-SFI control unit (N3/34) (with engine M254) or the CDI control unit (N3/40) (with engine OM654) via the engine CAN (CAN C1).
In electric vehicles (with code M7E (Electric motor 150 kW/battery 60 kWh (usable)), M8E (Electric motor 85 kW/battery 60 kWh (useable)) or ME4 (Electric motor 145 kW)), the information with regard to the Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR) is forwarded by the powertrain control unit (N127) to the power electronics control unit (A79/3) via the electric drive CAN (CAN ED).
The information from the electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit (N73/8) is also distributed via the suspension FlexRay (Flex E) to the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) control unit (N30/4).
Right electric sliding door:
The right electric sliding door is actuated via the "Right electric sliding door" button (5).
Information regarding actuation of the right electric sliding door is forwarded by the control panel switch control unit (N72/15) via the instrument panel LIN (LIN 1), signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1), interior CAN (CAN B) to the right sliding door control unit (E-LSTR) (N69/6).
