General
The alcohol breathalyzer (1) is installed in the vehicle and measures the driver's breath alcohol. If the value determined by the alcohol breathalyzer (1) is above the permissible value, an immobilizer is activated.
Function requirements
The following conditions must be met for the alcohol breathalyzer (1) to be used:
- Circuit 15 R ON
Function
The alcohol breathalyzer (1) is only approved as a retrofit, in connection with code O00 (Retrofitting of alcohol immobilizer).
For further information, observe the following documents: AZ54.21-S-0011-02A (Retrofit wiring harness for alcohol breathalyzer) and AZ54.21-S-0011A (Retrofit alcohol breathalyzer).
Once the alcohol breathalyzer (1) has been retrofitted, the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1) must be coded accordingly.
The alcohol breathalyzer (1) is connected to the vehicle architecture via LIN B13 (roof LIN).
If the signal for engine start is forwarded to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1), the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1) requests information regarding the measured breath alcohol value from the alcohol breathalyzer (1). Once the driver has used the alcohol breathalyzer (1), the measured value is forwarded to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1).
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1) in turn communicates with the electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit (N73/8) via the CAN B (interior CAN) and forwards the authorization or rejection of the engine start via this connection.
