INSPECT Check
1 Check if vehicle is affected by measure. Affected vehicles: Re-bond control unit for E-call emergency call system (code: VS2MODERA)
IMPORTANT For authorized Mercedes-Benz service partners, only the entry in the Extended VEGA Application (EVA) system, in the "Current" tab, is decisive. There is no need to also check the affected vehicles in the workshop information system (WIS) or vehicle list.
SM82.95-S-0019-01AAA
2 Check ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) for correct bonding. IMPORTANT It may be the case that the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) is bonded with only two adhesive strips rather than four adhesive strips (2)!
The ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) must be bonded with four adhesive strips (2)!
IMPORTANT Check the bonding of the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) with a thin/flat cable tie (3). To do so, slide a thin/flat cable tie (3) between the windshield and the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) at the four shown test points (A) according to the arrows of the test points (A).
If the cable tie (3) cannot be inserted between the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) and the windshield,

The ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) is correctly bonded; the vehicle is not affected by the measure and can be handed over to the customer.
If the cable tie (3) can be inserted between the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) and the windshield in at least one area,

The ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) is not correctly bonded and must be rebonded; to do so, continue with operation step 3.

REMOVING Remove
3 Turn camera lens (1) of ERA-Glonass control unit (B84/11) toward vehicle interior. NOTES
Make sure that the camera lens (1) is turned in the direction of the vehicle interior.
Otherwise, damage cannot be ruled out when removing the ERA-Glonass control unit (B84/11).

4 Mark the installation position of the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) on the windshield.
5 Partially remove the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11). IMPORTANT Insert a long wedge between the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) and the windshield and carefully pry off the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) from the black carrier foil at the windshield.
Do not disconnect electrical connector. The black carrier foil remains at the windshield and is not damaged when the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) is removed.
IMPORTANT Secure the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) to prevent it from falling.

INSTALLING Install
7 Glue new adhesive strips (2) at housing of ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) as shown. NOTES
Ensure that no fingerprints are present in the area of the bonding surface. The area between the bonding surfaces should also be free of dust, oil, grease, wax and other adhesive components or dirt residues.
Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.
IMPORTANT The adhesive strips (2) are seated at the housing of the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11).

8 Remove the protective films from the adhesive strips (2) of the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11). NOTES
Avoid long waiting periods after the protective films have been removed and ensure that the adhesive strips (2) remain uncontaminated. Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.

9 Align the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) with the markings on the windshield and firmly press it on in the area of the adhesive strips (2). NOTES
When doing so, press on the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) firmly, but only in the side area.
Otherwise, the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) may become detached from the windshield.
NOTES
Ensure that no fingerprints are present in the area of the bonding surface. The bonding surfaces should be free of dust, oil, grease, wax, dirt and other adhesive components or dirt residues.
Bonding must take place at subsurface and ambient temperatures of approx. 22°C. Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.
IMPORTANT Take into consideration the markings previously made when removing that mark out the installation position of the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) on the windshield.

10 Fix the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) at the windshield with adhesive tape (4). NOTES
To ensure that the adhesive strips (2) are able to harden, the vehicle must not be moved for one hour after the unit is fixed in place!
Otherwise, the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) may become detached from the windshield.
NOTES
If outside temperatures are cold, leave the vehicle stationary in the workshop at approx. 22°C.
Otherwise, the adhesive strips (2) are unable to harden correctly.

11 Swivel the camera lens (1) of the ERA-GLONASS control unit (B84/11) back toward the direction of travel until it reaches the end stop.
CLEAN Clean
12 When fixing the unit in place, remove any used adhesive tape (4) and adhesive residues as well as previously applied markings from the windshield. Cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1025-04A
