Retrofit Microphone For Hands-Free System Into Trim Of Rain And Light Sensor - AN82.70-S-0015-04E

  1. Detach holder (2) from hands-free system microphone (1).

    IMPORTANT To do so, undo the catch on the holder (2) and pull out the articulated plate (1.1) of the hands-free system microphone (1).

    The holder (2) is no longer required and can be disposed of properly.

  2. Detach articulated plate (1.1) from hands-free system microphone (1).

    IMPORTANT The adhesive strip (3) from the supplied parts kit is not required.

  3. Bore (A) on cover (5) of trim (6) of rain and light sensor.

    IMPORTANT The cover (5) was removed when the trim (6) of the rain and light sensor was removed.

  4. Drill bore (A) in cover (5) using ø 10 mm bit.

    IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools  Hand drill

  5. Deburr bore (A) in cover (5) on both sides.

    IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 

    Hand countersinker

  6. Install articulated plate (1.1) of hands-free system microphone (1), as shown, in bore (A) of cover (5) and bond into place.

    IMPORTANT To do so, apply commercially available instant adhesive to contact surface of articulated plate (1.1) at cover (5). Observe specifications from manufacturer of commercially available instant adhesive.

  7. Attach hands-free system microphone (1) to articulated plate (1.1) on cover (5).

    IMPORTANT The following operation steps describe installation on a left-hand drive vehicle. With right-hand drive vehicles these operation steps must be carried out mirror-inverted.

  8. Remove screws (7) from front roof lining.
  9. Route electric line of hands-free system microphone (1), as shown, behind front roof lining up to installation location of Audio 40.

    NOTES Do not kink the electric line at the hands-free system microphone (1) and ensure chafe-free routing. This will prevent damage occurring.

    IMPORTANT When doing so, carefully pull front roof lining downward.

    IMPORTANT The jack plug (4) of the electric line at the hands-free system microphone (1) is not connected until the Audio 40 is installed.

  10. Secure electric line at hands-free system microphone (1) section by section to factory-installed electrical wiring harness using cable ties.

    NOTES Do not route or fasten the electric line at the hands-free system (1) in the operating and deployment range of the window airbag. The tensioning straps of the window airbag must under no circumstances be wrapped. Otherwise, the functionality of the window airbag may be impaired.

    If necessary,

    Strap down excess length of electric line at hands-free system microphone (1) using cable ties.

  11. Attach trim (6) of rain and light sensor as shown.

    NOTES Do not kink the electric line at the hands-free system microphone (1) and ensure chafe-free routing. This will prevent damage occurring.

    IMPORTANT Catch hooks (arrows A) must engage.

  12. Install cover (5) with hands-free system microphone (1), as shown, in trim (6) of rain and light sensor.

    NOTES Align hands-free system microphone (1) with driver.

    This ensures optimum voice quality when making a telephone call.

  13. Screw in screws (7) at front roof lining.
