1. Detach holder (2) from hands-free system microphone (1).

   To do so, undo the catch on the holder (2) and pull out the articulated plate of the hands-free system microphone (1).

2. Cut felt strips (3) for holder (2) such that they have a positive fit.
3. Place felt strips (3), as shown, onto holder (2) with positive fit and bond to surface.

   To do so, remove protective foil and bond felt strips (3) to holder (2).

4. Attach hands-free system microphone (1) to holder (2).

   To do so, slide the articulated plate of the hands-free system microphone (1) into the holder (2) until the catch engages.

   The following operation steps describe installation on a left-hand drive vehicle. With right-hand drive vehicles these operation steps must be carried out mirror-inverted.

5. Remove screws (5) from front roof lining.
6. Route electric line of hands-free system microphone (1), as shown, behind front roof lining up to installation location of Audio 40.

   Do not kink the electric line at the hands-free system microphone (1) and ensure chafe-free routing.

   This will prevent damage occurring.

   The jack plug (4) of the electric line at the hands-free system microphone (1) is not connected until the Audio 40 is installed.

7. Secure electric line at hands-free system microphone (1) section by section to factory-installed electrical wiring harness using cable ties.

   Do not route or fasten the electric line at the hands-free system (1) in the operating and deployment range of the window airbag. The tensioning straps of the window airbag must under no circumstances be wrapped.

   Otherwise, the functionality of the window airbag may be impaired.

   If necessary,

   ↓

   Strap down excess length of electric line at hands-free system microphone (1) using cable ties.

8. Attach hands-free system microphone (1), as shown, at front roof lining.

   Align hands-free system microphone (1) with driver.

   This ensures optimum voice quality when making a telephone call.

   While doing so, pull the front roof lining downward carefully and attach the holder (2) of the hands-free system microphone (1).

9. Screw in screws (5) at front roof lining.
