General

The toll system records survey data on toll roads and transmits them to the toll recording system e.g. by radio data.

Currently the ETC toll system in Japan, "Hi-Pass" in South Korea and the toll system in China are supported.

Function requirements

The toll system can be switched on and off in Japan and South Korea using the multimedia system control. In China, a Bluetooth® connection to the user's smartphone is required to activate the toll system.

Function

Data is exchanged between the control unit for DSRC and the toll station via the DSRC antenna.

ETC/"Hi-Pass"

For data to be exchanged between the control unit for DSRC and the toll station, the control unit for DSRC requires an ETC/"Hi-Pass" card on which user data is stored. The control unit for DSRC also stores evidence that fees have already been paid on the ETC/"Hi-Pass" card.

The control unit for DSRC forwards messages in the toll system to the media display and to a speaker (not in South Korea) via the multimedia system control. In South Korea, the speaker output is through the speaker integrated in the control unit for DSRC.

For example, a message can be issued in the following cases:

The Bluetooth® button on the control unit for DSRC is used to establish a Bluetooth® connection to the user's smartphone. Display and operation is carried out via the user's smartphone.
