General
The head unit (A26/17) is located in the center of the instrument panel.
Function
Task
The head unit (A26/17) acts as a gateway for the entertainment and communication systems (e.g. the Audio/COMAND display control unit (A40/8) or the head unit control panel control unit (N72/11)).
Networking
The head unit (A26/17) has both connections over direct lines and over the telematics CAN (CAN A), user interface CAN 2 (CAN HMI2), Ethernet and MOST.
The following input parameters and initial parameters are read in or output over direct lines by the head unit (A26/17):
| Input factors over a direct line | Initial parameters over a direct line |
|---|---|
| Circuit 30t | - |
| Circuit 31 | - |
| - | High-speed video link (HSVL) |
| - | Wake-up signal |
| Microphone (+/-) | Microphone (+/-) |
| - | Audio signal (+/-) |
| Mute function | - |
| - | USB interface 1 |
| - | USB interface 2 |
| Antenna signal | - |
Input parameters and initial parameters for the following control units are sent or received by the head unit (A26/17) via the telematics CAN (CAN A):
