General
The HERMES control unit (N112/9) is located under the instrument panel in the area of the steering column.
Function
The HERMES control unit (N112/9) has the following tasks:
- Prioritization of the services in the internal arithmetic unit
- Self-diagnosis, secures operational readiness of emergency call system by checking the following facts:
- Reception of cyclic readiness signal from Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) control unit (N2/5)
- Connection for muting audio sources (mute function)
- Connection to hands-free system microphone (B25/4) via the head unit (A26/17)
- Connection to GPS antenna (A2/47), HERMES GSM antenna (A2/163)
- Setup of voice connections or data links to the service provider via the HERMES GSM antenna (A2/201)
- Reception of hands-free system microphone signals (B25/4)
- Transmission of audio signals to the taxi two-way radio/ERA-GLONASS/Hermes cockpit speaker, right center (H6/1)
- Reception of GPS signals (global navigation system) for position finding via the GNSS antenna (M21/4a2)
- Forwarding of real-time traffic data from service provider to head unit (A26/17) over a direct line
- CAN communication via diagnostic CAN (CAN D) with the electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit (N73/8) and the diagnostics connection (X11)
