Function requirements, general 

IMPORTANT The electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS) (N73) transmits the circuit 15 status over the interior CAN (CAN B) to the signal acquisition and actuation module control unit (SAM) (N10/1).

Backup light actuation, general 

The backup light actuation enables the traffic lane to the rear of the vehicle to be illuminated when backing up.

Function sequence for backup light actuation 

When the reverse gear is engaged, the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit activates the backup light actuation.

The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit transmits the reversing light request via interior CAN to the trailer recognition (AAG) control unit (N28/1). This actuates the reversing lights at the trailer via the 13-pin trailer socket (X58). The trailer recognition control unit sends the status via interior CAN to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.
