IMPORTANT Refer to the superordinate service document for further information.

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

Safety information in superordinate service document must be observed.

  1. Mark separating points on sidewall paneling (1) (areas A and B).
  2. Cut separating points on sidewall paneling (1) (areas A and B).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

  3. Expose spot welds on sidewall paneling (1) (areas C to I).
  4. Cut out spot welds on sidewall paneling (1) (areas C to I).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot welds (arrows) through two panel thicknesses.

  5. Expose spot weld on sidewall paneling (1) (area J).
  6. Cut out spot weld on sidewall paneling (1) (area J).
  7. Expose spot weld (area K).
  8. Drill out spot weld (area K).

  9. Heat sidewall paneling (1) in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  10. Remove damaged side wall paneling (1).
  11. Mark separating points for offset flange (areas L and M).
  12. Cut separating points for offset flange (areas L and M).
  13. Crimp connection flange toward inside (area N).

  14. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in crosshatched areas and around holes (areas O, Pr and R).

    IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.

  15. Remove shavings and drill chips.
  16. Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area Q).

    Otherwise, there may be adhesion problems.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surface (area Q).
