Outer Longitudinal Member Shell On Entry Partial Removal - Ar63.30-S-1110-01E
Model 447, 448
MODIFICATION NOTES
| 18.05.2016 | Method adapted | Operation step 1 |
- Mark separating points on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut (areas A and B).
Do not make the cuts too deep. Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
If, for further work, the longitudinal member inner shell is to be replaced, always observe dimension (b) when marking and cutting.
If further work is not to be performed, the separation line can be determined in area B according to the degree of damage of the longitudinal member outer shell (1).
Model 447.8 with code PS2 (AMG line)
Model 448.8 with code CN1 (Exterior rocker panel)
Determine separating point in area B so that there is sufficient distance to the attachment points of the mounting rail on the longitudinal member panel.
- Expose spot welds on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut out (areas C up to E).
- Remove longitudinal member outer shell (1).
- Remove residues from soundproofing.
- Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove shavings and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
