- Scribe separating points and cut (areas A and B).
- Remove damaged section on B-pillar outer section (1) and inner B-pillar (2).
- Scribe separating points and cut (areas C and D).
Do not cut too deeply. Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Complete separating cut as extension of e°e (area D).
Cut separating point according to degree of damage (area C).
Model 447.8 with code PS2 (AMG line)
Model 448.8 with code CN1 (Exterior rocker panel)
Ensure sufficient distance to mounting points of mounting rail on longitudinal member panel when determining separation line in area C.
- Expose spot welds on upper and lower sections of B-pillar outer section (1) and inner B-pillar (2) and cut out (areas E to I).
Cut out spot welds (arrows) through two panel thicknesses.
- Remove upper and lower sections on B-pillar outer section (1).
- Expose spot welds on upper and lower sections on inner B-pillar (2) and cut out (areas J to L).
- Bend open sheet metal lug (area L).
- Heat inner B-pillar (2) in crosshatched area.
Crosshatched area is bonded.
- Remove upper and lower sections on inner B-pillar (2).
- Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove shavings and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
- Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove shavings and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
