IMPORTANT Refer to the superordinate service document for further information. Observe safety information in the superordinate service document.

IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on component parts for model 447 with code T19 (left sliding door) on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed in the same way in the event of damage to the right side of the vehicle.

  1. Mark separating point on the C-pillar reinforcement (1) (area A).

    IMPORTANT Transfer separation point from vehicle.

  2. Cut separating point on the C-pillar reinforcement (1) (area A).
  3. Grind mating surfaces on C-pillar reinforcement section (2) down to bare metal in the cross-hatched area.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  4. Remove shavings.
  5. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surface with zinc dust paint (area B).

    Otherwise there may be adhesion problems.

  6. Mark separating point on the sidewall paneling (3) (area C).

    IMPORTANT Transfer separation point from vehicle.

  7. Cut separating point on the sidewall paneling (3) (area C).
  8. Grind mating surfaces on sidewall paneling section (4) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  9. Remove shavings.
  10. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surface (area D) with zinc dust paint.

    Otherwise there may be adhesion problems.
