The next steps are shown on model 447 with code T19 (left sliding door) on the left side of the vehicle and must be carried out in the same way on the right side of the vehicle in the event of damage.
- Expose spot welds on the sidewall paneling (1) (areas A, A1 , B, and B1 ).
- Cut out spot welds on the sidewall paneling (1) through two panel thicknesses (areas A and B).
- Cut out spot welds on the sidewall paneling (1) (areas A1 and B1 ).
- Expose spot welds on the sliding door entrance (2) (areas C and C1 ).
- Cut out spot weld on the sliding door entrance (2) through two panel thicknesses (area C).
- Cut out spot weld on the sliding door entrance (2) (area C1
).
- Scribe separation line on the sidewall paneling (1) (area D).
To do this, scribe separation line of cutout (arrow E) to the edge (arrow F) of the C-pillar reinforcement (3).
- Disconnect sidewall paneling (1) from the separating point (area D).
- Heat sidewall paneling (1) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove damaged section of the sidewall paneling (1).
- Scribe separation line on the C-pillar reinforcement (3) (area G).
Observe dimension (A).
- Cut C-pillar reinforcement (3) at the separating point (area G).
- Heat up C-pillar reinforcement (3) in the cross-hatched area (area H).
Cross-hatched area (area H) is bonded.
- Remove damaged section of the C-pillar reinforcement (3).
- Grind down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove shavings and milling chips.
- Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges.
Do not coat bonding surface (area I) with zinc dust paint.
Otherwise, there may be adhesion problems.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surface (area I).
