Location 

The right sliding door control unit (E-LSTR) is located in the right side wall.

The left sliding door control unit (E-LSTL) is located in the left side wall.

Task 

The right sliding door control unit (E-LSTR) actuates the right electric sliding door via the right electric sliding door drive (M73/1). The left sliding door control unit (E-LSTR) actuates the left electric sliding door via the left electric sliding door drive (M73/2). Moreover, the right sliding door control unit (E-LSTR) and left sliding door control unit (E-LSTL) is responsible for following functions:

• Automatic reserving function 
• Blockage detection 
• Excess force limiter 
• Central locking (CL [ZV]) 
• Closing assist (SHI) 

Moreover, the right sliding door control unit (E-LSTR) on vehicles with code W68 (Electrically actuated tailgate) is responsible for tailgate control.

Reading in of signals 

The input factors are read in by the right sliding door control unit (E-LSTR) and left sliding door control unit (E-LSTL) by the following connections:

• Signal from right sliding door closing assist actuator (M76/1)
• Signal from left sliding door closing assist actuator (M76/2) (with CODE T56 (Electrical actuation for left sliding door))
• Status of left electric sliding door door handle actuation switch (S86) (with CODE T56 (Electrical actuation for left sliding door))
• Status of right electric sliding door handle actuation switch (S87)

The signals are read in by the right sliding door control unit (E-LSTR) and left sliding door control unit (E-LSTL) via the interior CAN.

The input factors read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessors and the relevant components are then actuated.
