General 

The crossing traffic warning system warns the driver and brakes the vehicle in hazardous situations with crossing traffic when reversing or driving forward out of a parking space.

The maneuvering assistant is operated using the multimedia system.

Function requirements 

• Circuit 15 ON
• Blind Spot Monitoring switched on
• Parking Assist switched on
• Vehicle reverses or drives forward at walking pace.
• No trailer operation (vehicles with trailer hitch)
• No incline

Function 

When exiting a parking space, the radar sensors in the bumper monitor the traffic area adjacent to the vehicle. A symbol appears in the central display in situations of imminent collision. A warning tone can also be issued. If the warning is not followed by a reaction from the driver, the vehicle is braked automatically.

The cross traffic warning system is active at a speed of 0 to 10 km/h.

Functional restrictions 

The crossing traffic warning system may also be impaired:

• If the radar sensors are very dirty.
• Through insufficient (poor) detection for angle parking
• When covered up by other vehicles
