General

The Onboard Logic Unit (OLU) control unit - Connect Unit (N183/1) serves as a vehicle interface for the customer, and therefore enables them to use their own software in the vehicle, for example.

The Onboard Logic Unit (OLU) control unit - Connect Unit (N183/1) is located in the seat box of the front passenger seat.

Function

The Onboard Logic Unit (OLU) control unit - Connect Unit (N183/1) abstracts vehicle functions to a higher abstraction interface and is connected to the actual vehicle via various interfaces.

The Onboard Logic Unit (OLU) control unit - Connect Unit (N183/1) is connected with the parameterizable special module (PSM) control unit (N26/16) via the CAN for multifunctions (CAN K).

The parameterizable special module (PSM) control unit (N26/16) is networked via 4 different connections with the vehicle architecture:

Body manufacturer CAN (CAN ABH)
Interior CAN (CAN B)
User interface CAN 2 (CAN HMI2)
CAN for multifunctions (CAN K)

Via the connection to the parameterizable special module (PSM) control unit (N26/16), any required information on the vehicle status can therefore be procured from the Onboard Logic Unit (OLU) control unit - Connect Unit (N183/1).

The Onboard Logic Unit (OLU) control unit - Connect Unit (N183/1) can communicate "Over the Air" with other components that are not part of the vehicle (e.g. smartphones).

For this purpose, the Onboard Logic Unit (OLU) control unit - Connect Unit (N183/1) is connected to the LTE antenna splitter (A2/208) and to the GNSS antenna (M21/5a2) via direct lines.
