General information 

Driver assistance systems use ultrasound and radar sensors as well as cameras to recognize the area around the vehicle and interpret it based on this information. They support the driver in various driving situations, thereby enhancing the level of ride comfort.

Driver assistance systems also contribute to increased safety. They support the driver in situations in which fast and safe handling is required.

Function 

Driver assistance systems intervene in electronic drive control (e.g. by accelerating, braking, steering) and control of the vehicle's signaling equipment. They warn the driver just before or during the occurrence of critical situations.

Driver assistance systems are designed such that responsibility still lies with the driver, who can "override" autonomous interventions at any given time.
