Location
The battery sensor is located in the right front seat box on the negative terminal of the on-board electrical system battery.
Task
The battery sensor transmits the following values of the on-board electrical system battery via the battery sensor LIN (LIN B15) to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1):
- Voltage
- Amperage
- Temperature
The battery sensor is connected in series between the negative terminal of the on-board electrical system battery and the ground point on the vehicle. It determines the on-board electrical system battery voltage and the power consumption of the on-board electrical system. The battery sensor calculates the internal resistance of the on-board electrical system battery from these measured values.
A temperature sensor integrated in the battery sensor measures the temperature at the negative terminal. On the basis of this value, the battery sensor calculates the temperature in the on-board electrical system battery. If, owing to a communication failure, the battery temperature values determined by the battery sensor are not available, a default value is used instead.
