Side Longitudinal Member Paneling Partial Removal - Ar63.30-P-1040-01ME

Model 167 

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are to be performed on model 167.1 on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side.

The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Mark separating points on longitudinal member paneling (1) and separate according to damage (areas A, B), (areas A, C, D) or (areas B, C, D).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    b = approx. 35 mm

    d = approx. 70 mm

    IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the most comprehensive repair on the left side of the vehicle.

  2. Expose spot welds on longitudinal member paneling (1) and cut out (areas E).

  3. Heat longitudinal member paneling (1) in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  4. Remove longitudinal member paneling (1).

  5. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  6. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  7. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust (areas F).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
