The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

1. Install C-pillar (1), fit, and fix in place.
2. Drill rivet holes in C-pillar (1) with 0 6.7 mm (areas A, A₂ ). 

   Drill rivet holes through existing holes in body (area A₁ ).

3. Remove C-pillar (1).
4. Drill rivet holes in C-pillar (1) and deburr on body on both sides.
5. Remove drilling chips.
6. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.

7. Apply sealant to foam part on C-pillar (1) in cross-hatched area.

8. Install C-pillar (1) and fix in place.
9. Rivet C-pillar (1) with rivets Ø 6.4x12 (areas B₁ , B₂ ).

   Rivet C-pillar (1) from the inside (area B₂ ).

10. C-pillar (1) (areas C).
11. C-pillar (1) (area E).

    Surface-grind plug weldings (area E).

12. C-pillar (1) (area D).

    Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between.

    This reduces heat distortion.

13. Grind inert gas welds on C-pillar (1) down flat (area D).

    Only surface-grind at fold areas and contact surfaces of rear fender.

14. Clean weld joints that are no longer accessible after rear fender is installed, and coat with zinc dust paint.
