The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle in model 167.1. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Mark separating points on B-pillar paneling (1) and separate (areas A, B, C).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Observe dimensions (a, b, C1 , C2 , C3 , C4 ).
- Expose spot welds on B-pillar paneling (1) and cut off (areas D, E).
Common spot welds on panels located one behind the other must be cut off through two panel thicknesses (areas E).
- Heat B-pillar paneling (1) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove B-pillar paneling (1).
- Mark separating points on longitudinal member outer shell (3) and cut (areas F, G).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Observe dimensions (f, g).
- Expose spot welds on longitudinal member outer shell (3) and cut off (areas H).
F: Dimension (approx. 80 mm)
G: Dimension (approx. 20 mm)
- Heat longitudinal member outer shell (3) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove longitudinal member outer shell (3).
- Expose spot welds on B-pillar (2) (areas J, K) and cut off.
- Cut MIG solder connections on B-pillar (2) (area M).
- Heat B-pillar (2) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove B-pillar (2).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas L).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
