General
The multifunction steering wheel (1) is a component of the vehicle's steering. It is used primarily to change the direction of the vehicle. In addition, a variety of functions can be operated using control elements (2 to 5) on the multifunction steering wheel.
Function
Control elements of various button groups and the steering wheel gearshift buttons are located on the multifunction steering wheel (1). A variety of functions can be operated using the control elements. The description of the individual control elements is given in the detailed information listed below.
The on-board computer is operated using the cockpit display and is controlled using the finger navigation pad in the instrument cluster multifunction steering wheel button group (2).
The multimedia system is operated using the central display and is controlled using the finger navigation pad in the head unit multifunction steering wheel button group (3).
Both finger navigation pads have acoustic operation feedback that can be adjusted in the multimedia system.
A steering wheel electronics system is integrated into the multifunction steering wheel. This is connected to the network architecture of the vehicle.
The steering wheel electronics digitalize the operation signals from the multifunction steering wheel (1) control elements (2 to 5) and provide them to other vehicle systems.
