General
The active ambient lighting control unit is the central control unit for all active ambient lighting functions.
It is connected to the vehicle's network architecture.

Function
The active ambient lighting control unit actuates the various light elements of the active ambient lighting over the CAN bus. It generates various light and video effects by transmitting color values for each individual LED of each light element.
The active ambient lighting control unit receives the conditions for displaying certain effects through the network architecture.
The active ambient lighting control unit also processes the following information:
- Circuit status
- Settings on multimedia system control
- Warnings of driver assistance systems
- Status of central locking
- Status of vehicle doors
- Status of climate control
- Status of climate zones
- Status of speech recognition system
The active ambient lighting control unit processes these input parameters and it also sends the following information:
- RGB color requests for all active ambient lighting LEDs
