Model 290
The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 290 except code 414 (Sliding sunroof). In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The safety information in the superordinate service document must be observed.
- Mark separation points on B-pillar paneling (1) and separate (areas A, B, C).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
a = approx. 30 mm
b = approx. 20 mm
c1 = approx. 15 mm
c2 = approx. 190 mm
c3 = approx. 155 mm
- Expose spot welds on A-pillar paneling (1) and cut out (areas D).
Joint spot welds on panels that are one behind the other must be cut out through two panel thicknesses.
- Heat B-pillar paneling (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove B-pillar paneling (1).

Expose spot welds on roof frame mounting support (5) and cut off (area E).

Remove roof frame console (5).
- Mark separating points on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and separate (areas F, G).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
f = approx. 55 mm
g = approx. 55 mm
- Mark separating points on inner roof frame (4) and separate (areas J, K).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
j = approx. 160 mm
k = approx. 190 mm
- Expose inert gas welds on the inner roof frame (4) and separate (area H).
- Expose spot welds on the inner roof frame (4) and cut out (areas L).
- Heat inner roof frame (4) in the cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove inner roof frame (4).
- Expose spot welds on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut out (areas M).
- Expose spot welds on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut out (areas I).
Joint spot welds on panels that are one behind the other must be cut out through two panel thicknesses.
- Heat B-pillar reinforcement (2) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Heat B-pillar reinforcement (2) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove B-pillar reinforcement (2).
- Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas N).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
