The safety information in the superordinate service document must be observed.

  1. Install rear center section (1) and fit.

    IMPORTANT Helper required.

  2. Install liftgate seal.
  3. Install striker eye.
  4. Install rear lamp units.
  5. Install rear bumper.
  6. Check gaps using SPECIAL TOOL feeler gauge and adjust.
  7. Fix rear center section (1) in place.
  8. Remove rear bumper.
  9. Remove rear lamp units.
  10. Remove striker eye.
  11. Remove liftgate seal.
  12. Drill rivet holes on rear-end center section (1) with a diameter of 6.7 mm through the existing holes in the body (area A).

    IMPORTANT The operation step is shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed in the same way on the right side.

  13. Bend back left and right rear fenders.
  14. Drill rivet holes in rear-end center section (1) with a diameter of 6.7 mm (areas B1 , B2 ).

    IMPORTANT Rivet holes though the existing holes in the body (area B1 ).

  15. Bend left and right rear fenders upward.
  16. Remove rear center section (1).
  17. Deburr rivet holes on rear center section (1) and body on both sides.
  18. Remove drilling chips.
  19. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.
  20. Install rear center section (1) and fix in place.

    IMPORTANT Helper required.

    IMPORTANT The following operation steps 21 and 22 are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed in the same way on the right side of the vehicle.

  21. Rivet rear-end center section (1) with rivets with a diameter of 6.4 x 12 (area C).
  22. Weld in rear center section (1) with POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (area D).

  23. Bend back left and right rear fenders.
  24. Rivet rear-end center section (1) with rivets with a diameter of 6.4 x 12 (areas E).
  25. Rivet rear-end center section (1) with rivets with a diameter of 6.5 x 12.5 (areas F).
  26. Rivet rear-end center section (1) with rivets with a diameter of 6.5 x 14.5 (areas G).
  27. Rivet rear-end center section (1) with rivets with a diameter of 6.4 M6 (areas H).
  28. Rear center section (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas J).
  29. Rear-end center section (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (areas K).
