Wheel Well Removal - Ar62.20-P-1200-21FR

The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 257. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
Additional information can be found in the superordinate service document.
The safety information in the superordinate service document must be observed.
- Expose and cut off spot welds at crossmember (2) (areas A, B).
Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas B).
- Heat crossmember (2) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove crossmember (2).
- Mark separating points on wheel well (1) and cut (areas C).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
- Expose spot welds on inner rear wheel well (1) and cut out (areas D).
- Heat wheel well (1) in crosshatched area.
Cross-hatched area is bonded.
- Bend separated sheet metal flange on wheel well (1) to side in direction of arrow.
- Mark separating point on wheel well (1) and cut (area E).
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
e = approx. 30 mm
- Expose and cut off spot welds at wheel well (1) (areas F, G).
Cut spot weld through two panel thicknesses (area G).
- Expose spot welds on wheel well (1) and drill through with a drill bit with a diameter of 6.5 mm (areas H).
- Heat wheel well (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Heat wheel well (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove wheel well (1).
- Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
Grind mating surfaces at bottom down to bare metal (area J).
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas J, K).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
