DANGER Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work. Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A 
WARNING Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
CAUTION Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

REMOVING Remove     
1 Detach brake caliper and secure free of tension to vehicle with lines still connected. NOTES
Do not stretch, crush or kink the brake hoses and brake lines.
This leads to damage to the brake hoses and brake lines, and it can impair their function.

2 Remove brake linings (1, 2) from brake caliper support (3).    
3 Remove retaining springs (4) from brake caliper support (3).    
4 Pull right rear brake lining wear sensor out of backing plate of brake lining (1). When replacing the brake lining (1) or the right rear brake lining wear sensor.  
INSPECT Check     
5 Check brake linings (1, 2) for wear and condition.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   If there is a problem,

replace the brake linings (1, 2) in sets.

6 Check brake disk for wear and condition.   AR42.10-P-0120FRX 
    If there is a problem,

replace the brake disks in sets.

CLEAN Clean     
7 Clean contact surfaces of brake linings (1, 2) on brake caliper support (3) (arrows) and on brake caliper. NOTES
Do not use sharp-edged or pointed objects.
Otherwise, the brake caliper, dust boot on the brake piston or the brake caliper support (3) may be damaged.
 
    Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
INSTALLING Install     
8 Insert right rear brake lining wear sensor at backing plate of brake lining (1). When replacing the brake lining (1) or the right rear brake lining wear sensor.  
9 Mount retaining spring (4) onto brake caliper support (3).    
10 Insert brake linings (1, 2). IMPORTANT Only complete sets of brake linings (1, 2) approved by Mercedes-Benz may be installed.  
11 Install brake caliper.   AR42.10-P-0080FRX 
    NOTES
Do not stretch, crush or kink the brake hoses and brake lines.
This leads to damage to the brake hoses and brake lines, and it can impair their function.
 
    NOTES
The brake line pieces (99) of the brake hoses must not be bent.
Replace the affected brake hoses with damaged brake line pieces (99) immediately.
 
    If brake line piece (99) is damaged,

replace affected brake hose.
