The following operation steps have been described using an LHD vehicle. The component is installed as part of an identical process in RHD vehicles.

Route CD drive wiring harness (1) from the center console to the glove compartment.
Note required extended length of approx. 400 mm.
Secure the CD drive wiring harness (1) using a cable tie (3).
The CD drive connector socket (1.1) is connected to the CD drive (2) at a later stage.

Route brown line (BN) and red line (RD) of CD drive wiring harness along vehicle wiring harness behind instrument cluster to left A-pillar.
Fix brown line (BN) and red line (RD) in place on vehicle wiring harness using cable ties.
Open secondary fuse (42) of fuse holder (41) on driver's side fuse and relay module (K40/6).
Install contact spring (1.3) of red line (RD) in contact cavity "S1-4" of slot for electrical fuse 207.
Close secondary fuse (42) on fuse holder (41).
Strap down excess line length and fix red line (RD) in place on vehicle wiring harness using cable ties.

Route brown line (br) of CD drive wiring harness (1) along vehicle wiring harness at left A-pillar to left footwell ground point (W34).
Connect cable lug (1.2) of brown line (BN) of CD drive wiring harness (1) to left footwell ground point (W34) .
Fix brown line (BN) in place on vehicle wiring harness using cable ties.

Route CD drive wiring harness (1) to head unit (A26/17).
Remove bordeaux-violet connector socket from USB port "3" on head unit (A26/17).
The slot in the head unit (A26/17) has been labeled as "USB 3 ".
Connect head unit USB port connector socket (1.4) of CD drive wiring harness (1) to head unit (A26/17).
The slot in the head unit (A26/17) has been labeled as "USB 3 ".

The USB port in the rear passenger compartment is decommissioned.
Strap down respective excess line lengths and fix in place using cable ties.
