General 

The Rear Seat Entertainment System control unit is the controller unit for the entertainment and communication systems integrated into the rear passenger compartment. Together with the head unit, the Rear Seat Entertainment System control unit forms the control for the multi-seat entertainment system.

The Rear Seat Entertainment system control unit is connected to the vehicle's network architecture and it is equipped with a high-speed data line to the head unit and to the telematics services communications module.

The Rear Seat Entertainment control unit is located in the trunk at the left behind the side trim.

The Rear Seat Entertainment control unit contains the following components:

• WLAN receiver
• Bluetooth® receiver
• Voice control system
• Map data memory

Function 

The Rear Seat Entertainment System control unit has the following tasks:

• Read-in microphone signals from rear passenger compartment hands-free system
• Radio traffic through external WiFi antennas
• Communication with displays in rear passenger compartment
• Communication with mobile devices that are connected through HDMI connection
• High-speed communication with the head unit and the telematics services communications module

Depending on the equipment installed, this enables the head unit control unit to execute, e.g. the following functions:
