INSPECT Check     
1 Check condition of vehicle. IMPORTANT Before the vehicle level check it must be ensured that none of the suspension components are damaged or exhibit wear.  
    IMPORTANT For the vehicle level check, all vehicle parts must be installed and the vehicle completed and in a ready to drive condition. The vehicle must not be loaded.  
2 Check and correct tire pressure.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP40.15-P-4061A 
3 Drive the vehicle onto measuring station and secure using parking brake.    
4 Unlock turn and slip plates.    
5 Clean suspension components in measuring range (a), adapter (5) in measuring range (b) and contact surfaces. Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A

6 Remove trims (4) at spring link (6) of rear axle.    
  Measure level on front axle     
7 Place measuring sensor (1) on spring link (2) of front axle in measuring range (a) and measure vehicle level at measuring point 1 (front left) and measuring point 2 (front right).

    NOTES
The connecting cable of the measuring sensor (1) must face toward the center of the vehicle.
Otherwise the measurement will be inaccurate.
 
    IMPORTANT Position measuring sensor (1) between plastic brackets of holder (3) at spring link (2). Save or note down measured values.  
8 Remove measuring tool.

  Measure level at rear axle     
9 Attach holder (7) with screw (7.1) in direction of travel (arrow A) at shock absorber threaded point on spring link (6). SPECIAL TOOL Adapter Fig 1
10 Insert forks on bracket (8) at front and rear into supports (arrows B) on holder (7). SPECIAL TOOL Adapter Fig 1
11 Swivel bracket (8) upwards (arrow C) against spring link (6) until end stop (8.1) makes contact with spring link (6) (arrow D) and hold. IMPORTANT When measuring on the right side of the vehicle, the SPECIAL TOOL end stop (8.1) on the SPECIAL TOOL bracket (8) lies at the front on the spring link (6).
When measuring on the left side of vehicle, the SPECIAL TOOL end stop (8.1) on the SPECIAL TOOL bracket (8) lies at the rear on the spring link (6).
This has no effect on the measurement result.

12 Place measuring sensor (1) at bracket (8) in measuring range (b), and measure vehicle level at measuring point 1 (rear left) and measuring point 2 (rear right).

    NOTES
The SPECIAL TOOL end stop (8.1) must make contact with the spring link (6).
Otherwise the measurement will be inaccurate.
 
    NOTES
The connecting cable of the measuring sensor (1) must face toward the center of the vehicle.

    IMPORTANT Save or note down measured values.

13 Remove measuring tools.

INSPECT Check     
14.1 Assign specified suspension data on-line. If an on-line connection is present.  
      AR40.20-P-0001A 
    IMPORTANT To make it easier to assign, the specified suspension data can be requested on-line - where it is updated daily - by means of the vehicle identification number.  
14.2 Assign specified suspension data off-line. If no on-line connection is present.

15 Compare determined values with specified suspension data. IMPORTANT The specified test tolerance applies only when checking the vehicle level but not for calibration.  
  Adjust     
16 Calibrate vehicle level using vehicle diagnosis system. When the vehicle level is outside the test tolerance.  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06FR
17 Check and correct headlamp adjustment. If vehicle level has been calibrated.
