Remove/Install Steering Track/Tie Rod - AR46.40-P-0200FR

Model 257, 290 

MODIFICATION NOTES

07.02.2020 Remove air deflector plate from tie rod (1), added. Operation step 2

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.
AS00.00-Z-0017-01A
  Notes on repair work on suspension components   AH00.00-P-0100-01A
  Notes on safety-relevant components   AH00.00-Z-0019-01A
1 Remove corresponding front wheel.   AR40.10-P-1102A
2 Remove air deflector plate from tie rod (1). Model 290 with engine 177  
3 Counterhold tie rod (1) and loosen counternut (2).    
  Note on calculation of tightening torque when using insertion or socket tools with various effective lengths   AH00.00-P-0015-01CW
    NOTES
It is essential to counterhold the tie rod (1).
The tie rod (1) will otherwise be damaged
 
    IMPORTANT After loosening, do not turn counternut (2) on inner tie rod (4) any more.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Jam nut, tie rod to inner tie rod *BA46.40-P-1002-01P 
4 Remove nut (3) and remove tie rod (1) from steering knuckle.    
Notice  Notes on threaded connections fastened using a tightening angle-based tightening process   AH00.00-P-0020-01A
Notice  Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-P-0001-01KOA
    NOTES
The ball head must be counterheld and an impact wrench/driver must not be used.
Otherwise the ball head or steering knuckle may be damaged.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Self-locking nut, tie rod to steering knuckle *BA46.40-P-1001-01P 
5 Remove tie rod (1) from inner tie rod (4).    
6 Install in the reverse order.    
MEASURING Measure     
7 Perform chassis alignment. Model 290 AR40.20-P-0200FRX
