Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the overpressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. 	Remove/install
1	Connect diagnostic device and read out variant coding of the ME-SFI control unit (N3/10).	When replacing the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).

2	Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m).
3	Remove upper engine cover.	Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.
4	Remove cable duct (7) from holder (8) with electric lines connected and place to one side.	Engine 177.8 in model 290
		Do not crush or kink or subject electric lines to tension. This will result in damage to the electric lines and can impair their function.
5	Release and disconnect electrical connectors (1, 2) from ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).
6	Clamp off coolant lines (4).	Clamp	Fig 1
7	Remove coolant lines (4) from ME-SFI control unit (N3/10).		AR20.20-P-7441-01RQ
8	Seal openings with suitable protective covers or stop plugs.	Record plug	Fig 3

9	Remove ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) upward out of the elastomer bearings.	Coat elastomer bearings of ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N310) with antifriction paste.

10	Check elastomer bearings of the ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) for damage.	If damage is present: ↓ Replace elastomer bearings for ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).
11	Remove ball pins (3) from the ME-SFI control unit (N3/10).	When replacing the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).

13	Install in the reverse order.
14	Transfer read out variant coding to new ME-SFI control unit (N3/10).	When replacing the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).

15	Perform venting routine with vehicle diagnosis system.

16	Check low-temperature circuit engine cooling system for leak tightness.		AR09.41-P-1011MNI
	Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. 17	Carry out engine test run and check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.
18	Install upper engine cover.
