The Audio/COMAND control panel is the central control for the telematics functions With the Audio/COMAND control panel the functions that can be displayed on the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8) can be operated In the process the Audio/COMAND control panel performs the following tasks individually:
- Operation of telematics functions
- Receiving signals
- Sending signals
Operation of telematics functions
The Audio/COMAND control panel in its role as central control includes the Audio/COMAND controller which when tilted pressed and rotated enables navigation in menus and lists the selection of display-generated buttons (softkeys) and the input of characters. The "Back" button and the "Home" and "Favorites" buttons support menu navigation Using the "Back" button you can switch to the last display with a short press and switch to the main menu with a long press. The "Home" and "Favorite" button can be used to call up the main menu and the functions saved as favorites.
Receiving signals
The Audio/COMAND control panel receives the following signals:
- Tml. 30t and circuit 31 via a direct line
- Control signals of left lower control panel (N72/4) (model 257) right lower control panel (N72/5) (model 257) Drive Unit control unit (N145/1) (model 290) and the upper control panel control unit (N72/1) over the LCP-LIN (LIN A3)
- CAN messages via telematics CAN (CAN A)
Sending signals
The Audio/COMAND control panel sends the following signals:
- Separate control signals as well as control signals of the left lower control panel (model 257) right lower control panel (model 257) Drive Unit control unit (model 290) and upper control panel control unit over the telematics CAN to the head unit (A26/17)
- Control signals from the head unit over the LCP-LIN to the left lower control panel (model 257) right lower control panel (model 257) Drive Unit control unit (model 290) and to the upper control panel control unit
