General 

With the Rear Seat Entertainment system, it is possible to use various functions from the rear passenger compartment. The focus here is on the use of media sources via the rear displays, which are mounted on the seat backrests of the front seats.

The rear displays are designed as a touchscreen, i.e. they can also be used for operating the system. Depending on the equipment installed, operation via a tablet PC is possible.

By installing a Mercedes Benz app, the user's smartphone can also be used as a remote control for the Rear Seat Entertainment system.

The Rear Seat Entertainment system can be used both with cabled headphones and with radio frequency headphones (via Bluetooth®).

Bluetooth® headphones are not part of the equipment for the Rear Seat Entertainment system.

Use of the Rear Seat Entertainment System can be switched off at the head unit (child safety lock).

Function requirements 

• Circuit 30t switched on.
• Transport mode not active.
• On electric vehicles: Range maximization is not activated for the vehicle interior function area.

Function 

The following functions can be operated via the Rear Seat Entertainment System, e.g.:

• Media sources:

  In addition to the media sources connected to the Rear Seat Entertainment system, the media sources of the multimedia system can also be used. Different media can be used independently from each seat.

• Internet browser:

  The Internet connection is established via the telematics services communications module and made available by the multimedia system.

• Radio/TV:

  The Rear Seat Entertainment system does not have its own radio/TV tuner, but can access the radio and TV of the multimedia system depending on the equipment installed. It is not possible to receive different radio or television stations at the same time.

• Sound:

  In addition to volume and sound, it is also possible to select between audio playback via the speaker system or via headphones.

• Navigation:
  • The map shows the current vehicle position. The vehicle position is adopted by the head unit.
  • The destination entry on the Rear Seat Entertainment System is forwarded to the head unit. Route guidance can be displayed on the rear displays.
  • The map view can be selected independently on each of the displays.
• Telephony:
  • Telephony can be used from the rear passenger compartment.
  • If a mobile phone is connected via the Rear Seat Entertainment system, it is logged in at the head unit.
  • On vehicles with telephony in the rear passenger compartment, the telephone receiver in the rear passenger compartment can be used to make a telephone call.
