The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 257. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The safety information in the superordinate service document must be observed.
When using Celette straightening system, also use anchoring set 9212.013.
Install adjustable fastening brackets with following dimensions:
- Front dimensions:
- x = 95 mm
- y = 44 mm
- z = 66.5 mm
- Rear dimensions:
- x = 50 mm
- y = 44 mm
- z = 66.5 mm
- Install longitudinal member outer shell (1), fit and fix in place.
- Drill rivet holes on longitudinal member outer shell (1) with ø 6.7 mm (area F).
- Drill rivet holes in longitudinal member outer shell from inside through present holes in body with ø 6.7 mm bit (area J).
- Remove longitudinal member outer shell.
- Deburr rivet holes on longitudinal member outer shell and body on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Coat with zinc dust paint insides of those riveted joints that will not be bonded.
- Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.
- Insert new foam part in area of B Pillar.
- Apply sealant to foam parts on longitudinal member outer shell (1) in crosshatched areas.
- Apply 2-component adhesive to longitudinal member outer shell (1) in cross-hatched area (area P).
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.
- Install longitudinal member outer shell (1), fit and fix in place.
- Rivet longitudinal member outer shell (1) with ø 6.5x12.5 rivets (area F1 ).
- Longitudinal member outer shell (1)
(areas G).
- Longitudinal member outer shell (1)
(area D).
- Longitudinal member outer shell (1)
(area A).
Inert gas weld in intervals and allow welding area to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.
- Longitudinal member outer shell
(area H).
Inert gas weld in intervals and allow welding area to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.
- Rivet longitudinal member outer shell with rivets with a diameter of 6.5x12, 5 (area J1 ).
- Longitudinal member outer shell (1)
according to repair scope (area B), (area C), or (areas B, C).
For sectional repair of the longitudinal member outer shell (1).
Inert gas weld in intervals and allow welding area to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.
