The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
Additional information can be found in the superordinate service document.
The safety information in the superordinate service document must be observed.
- Mark separation points on B-pillar paneling (1) and separate (areas A, B).
Transfer separation points from vehicle.
- Grind mating surfaces on B-pillar paneling (1) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas C).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Mark separating points on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and separate (areas D, E).
Transfer separation points from vehicle.
- Expose spot welds on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut out (areas F).
- Heat B-pillar reinforcement (2) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove B-pillar reinforcement (2).
- Grind mating surfaces on B-pillar reinforcement (2) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas G).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Mark separating points on inner roof frame (4) and separate (areas H, I).
Transfer separation points from vehicle.
- Remove section of the inner roof frame (4).
- Grind mating surfaces on inner roof frame (4) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
Grind inner roof frame (4) down to bare metal on the inside (area J).
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas J, K).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Mark separating points on longitudinal member paneling (3) and cut (areas L).
Transfer separation points from vehicle.
- Grind mating surfaces on longitudinal member paneling (3) down to bare metal in the crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
