A-Pillar Cut Off - Ar63.20-P-1100-01FR

Model 257, 290 

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 257. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The safety information in the superordinate service document must be observed.

  1. Mark separating points on A-pillar paneling (5) and cut (areas A, B).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    a = approx. 50 mm

    b = approx. 30 mm

  2. Expose spot welds on A-pillar paneling (5) and cut out (areas C).

    IMPORTANT Joint spot welds on panels that are one behind the other must be cut out through two panel thicknesses.

  3. Heat A-pillar paneling (5) in cross-hatched area.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched area is bonded.

  4. Remove A-pillar paneling (5).

  5. Mark separating points on A-pillar reinforcement (6) and cut (areas D, E).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    d = approx. 50 mm

    e = approx. 55 mm

  6. Expose solder seam on A-pillar reinforcement (6) and cut (area F).
  7. Expose spot welds on A-pillar reinforcement (6) and cut out (areas N).

    IMPORTANT Joint spot welds on panels that are one behind the other must be cut out through two panel thicknesses.

  8. Expose spot welds on A-pillar reinforcement (6) and cut out (areas G).

  9. Heat A-pillar reinforcement (6) in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  10. Remove A-pillar reinforcement (6).

  11. Mark separating point on A-pillar inner panel (7) and cut (area K).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    k = approx. 45 mm (measured from original connecting point)

  12. Expose solder seam on A-pillar inner panel (7) and cut (area H).
  13. Expose spot welds on A-pillar inner panel (7) and cut out (areas J).
  14. Expose spot welds on A-pillar inner panel (7) and drill through with a drill bit with a diameter of 6.5 mm (area L).
  15. Expose laser seams on A-pillar inner panel (7) and cut (areas I).
  16. Heat A-pillar inner panel (7) in cross-hatched area.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched area is bonded.

  17. Remove A-pillar inner panel (7).

  18. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  19. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  20. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas O).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
